Solitaire Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 29, 2026
This policy covers Solitaire — both the browser game and the Solitaire iPhone app — published by Yellow Sun Systems LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). Solitaire has materially different privacy properties from our account-based services because it runs entirely on your own device and has no user accounts. For the umbrella policy covering our other services, see the Yellow Sun Systems LLC Privacy Policy.
1. Summary
- No account, no sign-in, no email address, no name.
- No ads, no ad SDKs, no advertising identifiers. The game is free and stays free of ads.
- No analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting, no third-party scripts, no cookies.
- Your settings and your scoreboard are stored only on your own device and never sent to us.
- No leaderboards, no accounts to compare against, no social features — your results are yours alone.
- The iPhone app requests no permissions at all and plays entirely offline.
2. What we do not collect
When you play Solitaire, we do not receive:
- Your name, email address, or any account identifier
- Your scores, win rate, times, move counts, hints used, or mistakes
- Which variant or difficulty you play, or how often you play
- Any device identifier, advertising identifier, or fingerprint
Because Solitaire never sends this information to us, there is no server-side database of players, no export we could produce on request, and no record we could delete for you. The equivalents of those rights are performed on your device (see Section 4).
3. What is stored on your device
Solitaire saves the following to your browser's localStorage — or, in the iPhone app, to the app's own private storage:
- Preferences — whether the timer is shown, which side the draw pile sits on, whether sound is on, and the draw count (one card or three)
- Where you left off — the last variant (Klondike, FreeCell, Spider) and difficulty you chose, and whether you have already seen the one-time intro to variants
- Your scoreboard — up to the last 100 completed games, each holding the date, variant, difficulty, score, elapsed time, move count, hints used, mistakes, and whether you won
This storage is local to your browser profile or to the app on this device. It is not synced to any Yellow Sun Systems LLC server, not synced between your devices, and we cannot read it.
4. Your controls
- Browser: clearing site data for the Solitaire origin (or using your browser's private / incognito mode) removes every preference and every score.
- iPhone app: deleting the app removes all of its stored preferences and scores.
- Because nothing was ever uploaded, no deletion request to us is necessary or possible.
5. Network activity
Solitaire has no analytics endpoint, no telemetry, and no API. It never sends your gameplay, scores, or settings anywhere. The only network activity is fetching the game's own static files:
- Web: your browser downloads the page, scripts, images, and sounds from Solitaire's own origin, plus a small set of pre-generated shuffle files (the deals used for each difficulty level). These files are identical for every player, are cached offline by the service worker after first download, and reveal nothing about you beyond the fact that a request for a static file was made. There is also an optional request for a static file's timestamp so the About box can show the build date.
- iPhone app: all of the above — including the shuffle files — ships inside the app bundle and is loaded from local storage, so the app plays with no network connection and makes no request to any server.
No third-party requests. There is no CDN, no third-party font, no embedded video, no social widget, and no external script. Everything the web game loads comes from its own origin.
6. Hosting and network-level logs
This section applies only to the web version. Solitaire is served as a static site on Fly.io. As with any web server, the standard web-server access log may record the ordinary metadata of an HTTP request — timestamp, client IP address, requested path, response status, and user-agent string — and Fly.io's edge infrastructure may retain connection logs for reliability and abuse prevention under its own policies. These logs are a property of serving files over the internet, not a feature of the game: they contain no gameplay, no scores, and no settings, because those are never transmitted. We do not read, analyse, profile, correlate, export, or sell them.
7. No cookies, no advertising, no tracking
- No cookies of any kind. There is no session to maintain, and no tracking cookie is set.
- No advertising. No ad networks, no interstitials, no rewarded video, no IDFA, no ad measurement SDK.
- No in-app purchases. Solitaire is free in full; there is no payment flow and we never see payment information.
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Firebase, no Segment, no Mixpanel, no first-party counter.
- No crash reporting. No Crashlytics, no Sentry.
- No fingerprinting. Solitaire does not read canvas, WebGL, audio-context, or other fingerprinting surfaces to identify you.
- No data brokers. We do not sell, rent, license, or share your data with anyone. We do not have it.
8. Permissions
The Solitaire iPhone app requests no device permissions: no camera, microphone, photos, contacts, location, notifications, Bluetooth, or Health access. It declares no background modes. The web version likewise requests no browser permissions. Card sounds play through ordinary audio playback, which needs no permission.
9. Children's privacy
Solitaire is a classic card game with no violence, no chat, no user-generated content, no social features, and no purchases, and it is suitable for players of all ages. Because Solitaire collects no personal information whatsoever — from children or from anyone — there is nothing that would require verifiable parental consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR's provisions on children's data, or comparable laws. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, because we do not collect personal information at all.
10. Your rights
California residents (CCPA / CPRA). Yellow Sun Systems LLC does not sell or share personal information for purposes of the California Consumer Privacy Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, and does not process sensitive personal information through Solitaire. Because we never receive your settings or scores, the rights to know, access, port, correct, and delete are exercised through the on-device controls described in Section 4. See Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information for our site-wide statement.
EEA / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR). Yellow Sun Systems LLC operates the Solitaire marketing page, the Solitaire web game, and the iPhone app. Because Solitaire does not transmit your settings, scores, or any personal identifier to us, we are not a controller for that data — it never leaves your device. For the server access logs described in Section 6, our interest is limited to operating and protecting the service (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You retain the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection (GDPR Arts. 15–21), and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (GDPR Art. 77).
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Solitaire Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If a future version of Solitaire ever collects or transmits anything — including adding ads, analytics, or online leaderboards — that would be a material change: we would say so here plainly and describe exactly what and why, rather than broadening this policy quietly to permit it.
